Resume Templates

Let’s discuss your resume. When applying to jobs you need to tailor your resume to the job types you are applying for.

For example, when I was job searching I created a resume for bartending in the service industry and another resume for clerical type positions. Remove your education if you are applying for retail, service industry, and basic type positions. If you think a manager would be jealous of your accomplishments you are probably correct, go ahead and take those off. In this job market we are not trying to show off. Our objective here is to get hired and make money.

When applying to teaching, clerical, administrative, medical, management, and office type positions you can add your education, relevant classes and certifications, and any other relevant information.

KEEP YOUR RESUME AT 2 PAGES MAX. If you have more experience that is relevant, say you are applying for a professor position or are in the medical field and it does require a CV, then you may go beyond the 2 page recommendation. An example of a CV is located on my website already under the CV tab.

Remember, you are up against 100’s if not 1,000’s of applicants right now. We have AI automatically denying applications. Keep it simple, tailor your resume, use key words for your job position to trigger the AI to push your resume to the top of the pile.

Time out your applications! The best time to submit is always at night or before 8:00am, and preferably on Sunday so it pops up right away on Monday morning. Remember to send your follow up email and go get this money hunny!

There is nothing admirable about keeping a spreadsheet of 1,000 jobs you have applied to. That is weird. Stop that. I need you to humble yourself and take whatever you can get. Guess what? I have a Master’s degree and I am still bartending because it is the highest yield for my hourly rate. It allows me to go to school for my third degree and run my art business.

It is time for you to use that beautiful brain of yours and figure out your financial future. I do not care that you just graduated with honors on the dean’s list. Recruiters don't care either. I do not want to hear any more complaining about why you cannot get a job. Drive for Uber, babysit, sell items on Facebook Marketplace, ANYTHING. This is not a safe place for complaining. I’m literally handing you resume templates FOR FREE. We all had to start from somewhere, get a job that will help you pay the bills, and then you can figure out the steps to climb the ladder to achieve your dreams. There is nothing cute about putting your adult responsibilities on another human being, or complaining about this job market without taking action.

I am proud of you for doing the work to better your life. There is NOTHING easy about being an adult or doing the right thing. This path is the harder one for sure. I believe in you. Believe in yourself and let’s get this money!
